T.W. Pilar | Pilar Studios | 2025
Technoterria operates as a site-responsive digital installation combining panoramic screen environments, interactive sculptural systems, and custom audiovisual elements within a speculative timeline set one hundred years in the future. Positioned as a retrospective examining the technological and socio-economic conditions of the twenty-first century, the exhibition explores how systems of labor, entertainment, infrastructure, and governance evolve through normalization, repetition, and public adoption.Technoterria was intentionally situated within an academic research environment to place emerging technological futures in direct proximity to education, experimentation, and institutional production.
The exhibition includes a series of custom-built interactive consoles known as TōcōPODs, developed by Pilar Studios as physical interfaces for speculative game environments and labor simulations. Visitors navigate the installation through distributed digital timelines, fictionalized corporate media, and interactive stations that connect physical interaction with large-scale screen environments throughout the space. Across the exhibition, sculptural interfaces, moving image systems, and audio components operate together as a unified archival environment, using the visual language of public technology infrastructure and institutional display systems to structure the viewer’s experience.
